Traditional Archery
A Living Heritage
For the Society of Historical Studies "Koryvantes," traditional archery is not just a sport—it is a comprehensive cultural practice connecting us to millennia of martial heritage. It embodies the techniques, craftsmanship, and philosophy of archery as it was practiced before modern technological aids like sights or stabilizers.
Our approach is built on four pillars: Experimental archaeology to test historical equipment, Living history through immersive training, Academic research into ancient tactics, The study of traditional bow technology
While our primary research focuses on ancient Greek archery from the Mycenaean Bronze Age through the Classical era, we respect global traditions and actively engage with the international community, as reflected in our work with the World Traditional Archery Federation.
For "Koryvantes," traditional archery is not nostalgia. It is a living tradition, rooted in scholarly excellence and practical mastery, that brings history to life.
